The N.S.S. has been established by the central government to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth centenary in the year 1969. The scheme promotes Gandhian thought of rural development and self-dependence.
The N.S.S. department has been actively functioning right from the inception of the college in 1999. The N.S.S. intends to inculcate the qualities of self-dependence, social sensibility, honesty and dignity of labor.
The college runs all the programs and activities designed by the ministry of youth affairs and sports and the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The college has the N.S.S. Unit of two hundred volunteers.
Each enrolled N.S.S. Volunteer needs to contribute 120 clocks for the social work..
The N.S.S. implements programmes in two chief ways –
The college organizes a seven-day residential special camp for volunteers. During the last five years, the college organized camps in the following adopted villages – vitthalwadi, parodi, dahiwadi, warude, pimpaledhumal.
TThe N.S.S. Programme officers and the volunteers with help of villagers implemented activities like cleanliness, water conservation, tree–plantation, village social survey, soak-parts, health camps, cultural activities.
The Guru pournima was celebrated and the function was presided over by Principal Dr. P. R. Patil., Dr. Avinash Jadhav delivered lecture on Health Issues and ayurvedicremidies.
The N.S.S and cultural departments jointly celebrated the occasion. The vice-president of Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Mr. Shrikant Satpute Presided over the function.
