Raikumar Bhogilal Gujar was born in 1922 in Talegaon Dhamdhere. He participated the Quit India movement in 1942 under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi. He also participated in the anti British rally giving slogans ‘Quit India and Vande Mataram’ at Budhwar Peth. He conducted the anti-British activities in the areas like Budhwar Peth, Maruti Chaulk, and Talegaon Dhamdhere. He organized rally in Sonya Marutichowk with Shri. Popatlal Shah. Police arrested him and imprisioned him for ten days in Yerawada jail. After his escape from the British, he remained underground and distributed bulletin. He inspired the people of the Talegaon Dhamdhere and Shirur area to participate in the freedom movement. He was bestowed with a Freedom Fighter award by Maharashtra government taking into consideration his contribution in freedom struggle. He continued his social work even after nation got freedom. He was elected as the first president(sabhapati) of the Shirur Panchayat committee in 1962. He was given the candidature of Shirur assembly (vidhan sabha) in 1957 and 1972 by All India National Congress by taking into consideration his social and educational work.
In 1952, he established Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (Talegaon Dhamdhere,Tal-Shirur, Dist- Pune) an educational institution for the education of the children of poorest of the poor in Talegaon Dhamdhere and its vicinity with the help of Late Sahebrao Shankarrao Dhamdhere, Late Ramchandra Dashrath Shinde, Late Hiralal Dullabhdas shah. He made educational awareness in Talegaon Dhamdhere and the vicinity through this educational institution. The students of Raikumar B. Gujar Prashala and the students of Sahebrao Shankarrao Dhamdhere Arts and Commerece College are working successfully in the government and social sector on prime positions. Raikumar Bhogilal Gujar passed away on 6th February 2011 leaving his mark in the field of education. The school run by Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (Talegaon Dhamdhere Tal- Shirur, Dist- Pune) was named after him as Swatantrya Sainik Raikumar B. Gujar Prashala by taking into consideration his outstanding work.
